If you are new to the Catechetical Community Discussion Board for the Diocese of Baton Rouge please introduce yourself in reply to this thread. Let us know where you serve, and what you do. Also, leave us with one of your favorite passages of scripture and why you like it.

Most of you have met me but I will reintroduce myself: my name is Barry Schoedel, and I am an Associate Director of the Office of Evangelization & Catechesis. I also belong to St. John the Baptist in Zachary and Our Lady of Assumption in Clinton. I live out past Clinton a ways.

One of my favorite Scripture passages is Mark 1:15. It always brings me back to the immediacy of the Gospel and the importance of both conversion and faith, not one or the other. And the sense that Kingdom is already upon us is important to me.

We are told that this is Jesus preaching the Gospel of God in Galilee:

"This is the time of fulfillment. The kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel." (Mark 1:15)
